Warning: Spoilers for Episode 3 of this adventure follow below.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
The third episode ended with a huge suspense moment and revealed the premier party of characters who will branch out from the main group to begin their independent quest, separate from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table consists of Teor Pridesire (portrayed by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
Considering a large ensemble, it was obvious from the outset that keeping everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
Hence, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Prelude, connecting the personal journeys before branching into three separate parties: Warriors, Schemers, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
As described by the DM, the Soldiers table is for players who enjoy a classically intense fight-heavy gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
At first glance, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might appear mismatched, but the events of the latest installment demonstrate why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
First, the party understands precisely where to go next after a brutal first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose demise started the story’s plot—exploited the foes for his own means, entering Thjazi’s hideout, striking Thimble, and swiping all the powerful objects to sell off.
Casimir then settled his liabilities and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the city, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each member has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as the companion and closest confidant, wants vengeance.
- The adventurer is familiar with the region and cautions that it is a nasty location.
- Tyranny and The healer, having defied his house’s orders to eliminate Teor and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their reputation as prominent individuals in House Halovar could enable the group enter locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, The grateful character pledged a life debt to Wicander for his salvation and will now go with him wherever.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the authorities that govern the city for a multiple motives, making staying in the city dangerous:
- The rogue and The character are known criminals.
- Tyranny and Wicander betrayed the powerful family and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- The fighter is marked for death by House Halovar.
This results in them no alternative but to travel to Timmony in search of Casimir.
